Lincoln introduced a new design language and returned a traditional name to its lineup for the 2017 model year with the Continental. The Lincoln Continental was a full-size sedan with a roomy back seat, a large 16.7 cubic-feet trunk, and standard front-wheel-drive. Underneath its hood, the Continental offered a standard V6 engine or one of two twin-turbocharged V6 engine options. Buyers could also get a torque-vectoring, all-wheel-drive system. Lincoln debuted new styling on the Continental, which proliferated to all of the automaker's models. Consumer preferences for SUVs and a shift in resources to develop future products encouraged Lincoln to discontinue the Continental again after the 2020 model year.
