Kia redesigned the Optima midsize sedan for the 2016 model year. It comes in LX, EX, SX, and SXL trims, and the standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder making 185 horsepower. Optional turbocharged engines provide up to 245 horsepower, and a hybrid version is available, but we discuss it separately. The Optima's EPA-estimated fuel economy ranges from 28/37/31 mpg city/highway/combined to 22/31/25 mpg. The 2026 Kia Optima seats five people and provides 15.9 cubic-feet of cargo space. Many versions have a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and some Optimas offer numerous safety features.
