What Is Hyundai Baby Mode?

This feature is designed to help keep babies — and pets — calm while on the road.

Driving with a newborn in the car can be like tiptoeing down the hallway in the middle of the night. Every turn, stop, or sudden movement could wake the baby and cause a panic. Road trips can also be stressful for dogs and cats who don't enjoy travel. Hyundai announced that the 2025 Tucson's electrified models (the hybrid and plug-in hybrid) will have a new drive mode the automaker calls "Baby Mode" to smooth out the crossover's acceleration, leading to a more soothing ride.

What Baby Mode Does

Hyundai's Baby Mode reduces the initial input of the accelerator pedal to provide a gentler experience for passengers, reducing potential disturbances for your baby or furry friend.

Other automakers have also implemented features to help kids and pets. Rear-seat-reminder systems are designed to help parents avoid forgetting their child in the back seat — sadly, this can happen. Tesla introduced Dog Mode a few years ago to keep the climate control on while a pet is left in the car, and it includes a screen that lets passersby know the pet is OK.

How to Use Baby Mode

Baby Mode is a selectable function within the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid's and Plug-in Hybrid's My Drive settings. Drivers can select the different drive modes using a switch on the center console and a menu screen in the middle of the gauge cluster. Once the My Drive mode is selected, tap Settings under My Drive on the infotainment screen, and then select Baby.

You can also choose nature sounds from the Tucson's infotainment screen to help your baby sleep and ease your pet's anxiety on the electrified Tucson's available Bose premium sound system.

What Vehicles Come Equipped With Baby Mode?

Hyundai says Baby Mode will initially be exclusive to the Tucson compact SUV's hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Pricing for the 2025 Tucson Hybrid starts at $35,000 for the Blue trim level and $41,000 for the SEL Plug-in Hybrid.

All vehicle pricing includes MSRP plus destination charges (set at the time of publication), and will be rounded to the nearest thousand.
