Stellantis redesigned its Ram 1500 pickup for 2025, adding several interesting features designed to woo buyers away from competitors such as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150.

One is new to the Ram range, while the other two offer bed flexibility and have been available in previous models. Here's a look at the RamBox storage compartment, multifunction tailgate, and front-passenger display, as well as which trims they're available on and how much they cost.

RamBox Storage

This gear-stowing feature is officially called the RamBox Cargo Management System, and it uses the bedsides to make an enclosed space that's accessible through a flip-up cover on both bed rails. RamBox compartments are watertight, lockable, and illuminated, plus they have drain plugs at the bottom, letting them double as bedside coolers or storage for wet items. There's also a 115-volt power outlet in the driver's side box, so you can power and charge what you stash there.

These storage areas are conveniently accessed from the exterior of the bed, and are handy for things you want to keep safe but don't want in the cab, such as muddy waders. They can also prevent smaller cargo, such as hand tools, from being strewn about in the bed.

RamBoxes are offered only on select trim and bed configurations. The feature is available on the Big Horn crew cab with a 5-foot, 7-inch bed and the Laramie with the same bed length, where it's a $1,000 option but requires choosing an additional equipment package.

That brings the total cost of the RamBox to at least $1,400 for the Laramie, $1,500 for the Rebel, and $2,700 for the Big Horn. It's standard on the, Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten trims.

Multifunction Tailgate

The domestic automakers each have their own take on upgraded tailgates. Ram's is called the multifunction tailgate, and here, "multi" translates to precisely three. The unit can be dropped like any normal gate, but there's also a vertical split about 60% of the way from the left that allows either piece to swing open on side hinges.

With the multifunction tailgate, you can open one or both of the swinging sides and then belly directly up to the bed to grab something from within.

The multifunction tailgate is available on the 1500's Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten trims. It costs $1,100, but, like the RamBoxes, certain trims require an additional equipment package, which can cost between $400 and $1,700.

Passenger-Side Display

Ram's passenger-side display is a 10.3-inch touchscreen mounted in view of the front passenger. The screen lets the co-pilot access the Uconnect 5 system's navigation and audio, plus it provides access to camera views and will let the user stream and watch video while underway, making it helpful for road trips.

The passenger-side screen is available on the 1500 Laramie, Rebel, and RHO trims, and is standard on the Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten models.
