Chevrolet's High Country Trim Level Explained

The top trim for some Chevy SUVs and pickup trucks provides real amenities.

Certain Chevrolet SUVs and pickup trucks are available in a range-topping trim level called High Country. The Chevrolet High Country models fall into luxury territory with prices that can approach six figures.

High Country Is a Fancy Chevy Truck Trim Level

For the 2025 model year, the High Country trim level is available on specific configurations of the following Chevrolet models:

While it's not always the most expensive configuration, the High Country trim is the most luxury oriented. All 2025 Chevrolet High Country models have leather upholstery, and some — such as the Silverado — even offer exclusive custom perforation and stitching patterns. High Country models may also have flashy hardware; the Tahoe variant offers giant 24-inch black-painted alloy wheels. Such rims do little to improve ride quality compared with the improvements by the available adaptive dampers and air suspension.

As of 2025, the High Country models lack any exclusive underhood performance advantages compared with other Chevy models, though they are available with the most powerful engine choices.

In addition to the exterior High Country badges that depict peaks, Chevrolet tries to bring a little of the actual high country (such as forested mountain regions) into the cabin, with many models offering interiors with wood (or wood-tone) trim and earthy brown shades.

Chevrolet High Country Models Offer Top Tech

Befitting their position at the top of the Chevy truck and SUV lineup, the High Country models come with some tech features that are either unavailable or optional on lesser trim levels. For instance, all 2025 High Country models include infotainment systems running Google built-in software, and each has the largest touchscreen available.

You can also option General Motors' Super Cruise hands-free driving tech on all Chevrolet High Country vehicles except the Silverado HD for the 2025 model year.

Chevy's High Country Trim Is Similar but Less Grand Than GMC's Denali Trim

There are parallels between Chevrolet High Country models and the Denali trim level offered on top GMCs. Both Chevrolet and GMC are General Motors divisions, and the two have a lot of overlap within their lineups. For instance, all five of the Chevy models available in High Country trim have a GMC Denali equivalent:

That said, GMC extends its Denali treatment to even more models, including its Canyon midsize pickup, Sierra EV full-size pickup, and Terrain compact crossover.

Compare each model closely and you will find a few minor differences. For instance, the GMC Yukon Denali offers an 18-speaker Bose audio system, while the Chevy Tahoe High Country tops out at 10 speakers. The Yukon Denali can also be equipped with massaging second-row seats, which aren't offered on the equivalent Tahoe High Country.

An upcharge is typical for all models in the GMC lineup over their Chevy cousins. For example, GMC charges $200 more in total price before discounts for its 2026 Sierra 1500 Denali than Chevy asks for its 2025 Silverado 1500 High Country.

Andrew has been hooked on cars since his mother coaxed him into naps by driving him around in her rattly old diesel Mercedes-Benz. Perhaps it was the diesel fumes that lulled him to sleep. Either way, he has since parlayed his automotive enthusiasm into a decades-long career as a journalist writing for such well-known sites as Auto Express, Autoblog, Car and Driver, Leftlane News, Motor1, Motor Authority, and The Car Connection, not to mention numerous classic-car publications. When he's not researching cars, he's probably working on one — though he has yet to own a diesel Mercedes. Off to the classifieds he goes.
